Worksite Wellness: The Role of Wearable Fitness Technology

Currently, 1 in 10 Americans above the age of 18 own some sort of fitness tracking device and that number will only grow. Several companies intent on trying to keep their healthcare costs down have already integrated these devices into their workplace culture. WFT

Worksite Wellness: Health Screenings Are Complete…..Now what?

Posted by Sarah Szul on Mar 13, 2015 9:23:26 AM

In my last blog, I talked about the benefits of offering health screenings as part of a worksite wellness program. Something to consider is what to do once those screenings are completed and participants receive their results - ask yourself these questions:

6 Tips to Battle the Holiday Bulge

Posted by kapnick on Dec 16, 2014 11:29:00 AM

For the next few weeks, practice some of these healthy living tips to prevent that holiday weight gain after all the Christmas  and New Year parties - the below tips will help you battle the holiday bulge:

  1. Exercise every morning!  Start every day for the next two weeks with 15-20 minutes of exercise (hit the gym, a DVD at home, walk, bike, run up and down the stairs, do push-ups and squats or jumping jacks).
  2. Eat more apples!  Apples are loaded with fiber and water and help fill you up before a party.  You will naturally eat fewer calories.

  3. Drink lemon water every morning!   This is excellent as a mini "detox" after eating too many treats.

  4. Make a concerted effort to have only ONE helping of food.

  5. Pick your FAVORITE dessert and enjoy it!   Don't have a "little bit of everything".  Just pick one or two of your favorite desserts and enjoy them

  6. Are you baking this holiday season?   Use applesauce, baby food, canned pumpkin or mashed bananas instead of the oil.  If you swap a half cup of oil for a half cup of one of these other items, you can save about 110 grams of fat in your next pan of brownies or loaf of pumpkin bread
