Available to Mary Free Bed Employees and Family Enrolled in the Medical Plan.

Mary Free Bed is excited to announce the continuation of our Direct Primary Care (DPC) benefit available to employees and their covered dependents.

The great news – it’s FREE! Membership access to the service has been built into your existing medical premiums, making high-quality, convenient primary care easier than ever to access.

WHAT IS DIRECT PRIMARY CARE (DPC)?

Direct Primary Care gives you access to the same care you would typically receive from your Primary Care Provider or Urgent Care – right here at Mary Free Bed through our Employee Health Department.

WHO WILL PROVIDE THIS CARE?

You’ll be cared for by Olivia Cain, PA-C, a certified Physician Assistant with more than 13 years of experience managing primary care for her own patient panel. Olivia is dedicated to delivering high-quality, personalized care to Mary Free Bed employees and their families.

WHAT SERVICES ARE INCLUDED?

  • Preventive primary care, including annual exams

  • Same-day visits* for mental health, respiratory, stomach, skin, or other concerns

  • Urgent care needs requiring provider intervention (e.g., cuts, sprains, minor injuries)
  • Some basic labs or point-of-care testing (those not able to be performed in the clinic would be subject to your deductible and coinsurance)

*Same day appointments available as scheduling allows.

WHAT SERVICES ARE NOT INCLUDED?

  • Emergency care received at the emergency department

  • Imaging services such as MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, CT
    • These services can be ordered, if indicated, but will be run through your BCBS insurance and subject to deductible, coinsurance, and copayments, accordingly.

WHEN IS CARE AVAILABLE?

Primary Care Services and Urgent Care Services are generally available Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with other times considered by appointment.  Walk-in appointments can be accommodated, but scheduled visits will take priority. All patients are seen based on severity of presenting illness.

MUSCULOSKELETAL SCREENS

Experiencing aches, pains, stiffness, or discomfort

Ask for a courtesy musculoskeletal screening services help identify the source of your discomfort and provide guidance on the most appropriate treatment options.

During a screening, we may:

 

  • Evaluate your symptoms and areas of discomfort

     

  • Identify potential causes of pain or movement limitations

     

  • Discuss available treatment and self-care options

     

  • Recommend next steps to support recovery and wellness

     

  • Provide stretching exercises to improve flexibility and mobility

     

  • Provide strengthening exercises to improve stability, function, and injury prevention

ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENTS

Improve comfort, reduce strain, and prevent workplace injuries.

Our courtesy ergonomic assessments evaluate your workstation, tools, and work habits to identify opportunities for improved comfort and efficiency.

Assessments may include:

  • Workstation and desk setup evaluations

     

  • Chair, monitor, keyboard, and equipment positioning recommendations

     

  • Body mechanics and posture education

     

  • Strategies to reduce repetitive stress and discomfort

     

  • Recommendations to improve workplace safety and productivity

ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENTS

Personalized treatment for musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.

Dr. Thomas Fowler is a board-certified chiropractor who specializes in providing care to individuals with musculoskeletal conditions. He is certified in rehabilitation, one of approximately 250, by the American Chiropractic Rehabilitation Board. With nearly FOUR decades of experience and 30 years of private practice, he is the first chiropractor to have privileges at Mary Free Bed.

Services may include:

  • Spine and joint manipulation to improve mobility and reduce pain

  • Manual therapy including hands-on techniques to relieve muscle tension, improve movement, and support healing

This service is billed to your insurance. Dr. Fowler must be a participating provider in your network. Note: Dr. Fowler does participate as a Tier 1 provider with BCBS of MI.

Appointments are available for employees not enrolled in Mary Free Bed health insurance. Care is provided by Olivia Cain, PA-C, who brings more than 15 years of experience caring for patients. Treatment is available for respiratory, rashes, cuts, mental health.

Please note, your visit and any services provided will be billed to your health insurance.
