Are your employees happy?
This week we are focusing on shellfish allergy. This is considered one of the top 8 allergens. I have personal experience with a shellfish allergy because my father is highly allergic and his entire face swelled up at one point. Now, it’s strict avoidance! If you have a shellfish allergy, you may be able to eat other fish, such as salmon, tuna, tilapia, etc.… Also use caution when trying new fish or seafood if you have a shellfish allergy.

Very early in Kapnick Insurance Group’s commercial insurance life, it knew that niche marketing and “program related” insurance was a way for them to grow beyond its borders in Lenawee County. Conventional insurance sales through strong customer service, community involvement and key carrier relationships did indeed help the organization rise from a smaller town like Adrian, MI, to become a recognizable force in Lenawee County. But to grow beyond the local borders like many other successful U.S.- based agencies, expanding beyond its geographic boundaries was necessary.

Peanut butter & jelly sandwiches! Did you grow up eating these like I did? I just love them but to some people these sweet-tasting lunch items could really be life threatening. If you know you have a peanut allergy, avoid peanuts at all costs! I you are unsure, you may just have an intolerance (non-life threatening) but should avoid peanuts & peanut oils for a few weeks to see if you feel better.

Business Income Coverage - Have you updated coverage for space that you lease?

Does your business lease space to others? Even if your “primary” business is not to do this, are you leasing some extra floor space to another entity? This could be manufacturing space, storage space, or office/retail space. If you are, what is the annual “rents” income from this revenue stream? During the economic downturn many companies did indeed lease excess space to others as their own need for this space had changed. If this lease income is of any consequence, you will need to confirm with your insurance agent that you are properly insuring this exposure included in your Business Income coverage policy.
